Amy S. Hilliard



 A proven thought leader on marketing, entrepreneurship and empowerment, Amy S. Hilliard is the principal of The Hilliard Group. An honors graduate of both Howard University and the Harvard Business School, Amy is also certified in Social/Digital Marketing by the Columbia Business School. Her background includes over 30 years of corporate and entrepreneurial experience with Fortune 500 companies and iconic entrepreneurial firms.

Her unique background of senior corporate experience and established entrepreneurship includes retailing, senior marketing and advertising with Bloomingdale’s, Gillette, Pillsbury, Burrell Communications and L’Oreal. Her multi-million dollar brand building innovations for White Rain Shampoo while at Gillette were documented in a case study the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business.

Amy also founded The ComfortCake Company®, makers of “Pound Cake so Good it feels like a Hug®”. The Company commercialized Amy’s own recipes for a variety of pound cakes, and now licenses the intellectual property and Sugarless Sweetness®, a patent-pending proprietary sugar substitute. The Comfort Cake Company gained national distribution with United Airlines, Walmart and Home Shopping Network among others, and became an approved supplier to McDonald’s.

Amy was recently President of Fashion Fair Cosmetics, the global legacy prestige cosmetics company for women of color. She rebuilt the sales, marketing and operations teams, enhanced the brand’s imagery, increased promotions and drove the e-commerce channel to deliver its highest ever annual sales revenue. As the former Senior VP of marketing for L’Oreal’s Soft Sheen division, Amy and her team launched two multi-million dollar brands in one year. She also directed the successful reformulation of over 100 products to L’Oreal’s specifications while production was moved to L’Oreal’s production facility in Kentucky.

A native Detroiter, and mother of two professional young adults, she is the author of “TAP INTO YOUR JUICE – Find Your Gifts, Lose Your Fears and Build Your Dreams” – a motivational guidebook endorsed by Michelle Obama. An avid health enthusiast, community volunteer and strategic advisor, Amy Hilliard served on the Board of Trustees of Howard University, on PepsiCo’s Multi-Cultural Advisory Board and currently serves on the LeanIn.org Advisory Board with Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg. Amy has been profiled in numerous national publications, media outlets and she speaks internationally.
